River Trent (November 2020)

The late afternoon sun at this time of year is fabulous. It is low in the sky, casting a warming glow on the trees and bushes that line the River Trent.

There is still some autumn colour from the oak trees but the most of the willows are now leafless exposing a delicate tracery which will last through the winter.

Photography on these occasions doesn’t require much creativity or complex thinking, it is simply the enjoyment of the conditions, the colours, and being out in the landscape. It is also a very welcome break from bleak news that has dominated much of 2020 and threatens to cast further dark clouds over the holiday season*:

*I drafted this blog a few weeks ago and the threats are a reality for many people. My hope is that people keep safe over Christmas and that 2021 brings better news. A close relative and an elderly neighbour have received their vaccination in the last week. A tiny light at the end of the tunnel....
