Return to the River Trent (October 2022)

Having noted the fine autumn colours emerging along the River Trent in early October, I made another visit a week or so later. On this occasion the river was very still promoting mirror-like reflections. In fact, I struggle to remember ever seeing the Trent this calm…

Strawberry Hill Heath (October 2022)

An early autumn visit to Strawberry Hill Heath provided hints of colour, mainly from the birch and red oak trees. A surprising find, however, was a tree at the peak of its season, displaying a full crown of rich yellow leaves.

A conversation with a passer-by led to a discussion about what the type of tree it was - his view being a beech, but I was unsure. Other beech trees in the location were not as far along in their colour and the yellow seemed unusual. Looking at the bark and the shape of the leaves I was more inclined to go with a hornbeam tree. Either way, it was a pleasure to photograph although a little awkward as the path was very narrow.

Autumn on Blanchbeck Lane (October 2022)

Following on from my previous post is another autumn sequence, this time capturing the progress of the ash and lime trees on Blanchbeck Lane. The sequence starts with green leaves at the start of October, full autumn colours in mid-November, and a significant fall towards the end of the month...emphasising how quickly the season acts for these particular trees.
