Making the most of the unseasonably warm end to February we set out for a walk along the River Trent from Fiskerton. The weather was so good it almost like an early summer's day and we stayed to watch a perfect sunset before heading home:
Prior to this we had walked towards Farndon on the Staythorpe side of the river. The river itself was very still, almost glass-like and this provided a number of opportunities to capture reflections of the river bank and the trees:
As we neared Farndon, the Staythorpe power station came into view along with a web of pylons and power lines:
Overall, it was a very pleasant walk which we repeated over the recent Easter break. Again the weather was excellent and I will show the some the results once I have caught up with the processing.

Combs Lane (January 2019)
I have presented photographs from Blanchbeck Lane in a number of previous posts, and I have a few more to show here, but on this occasion I also walked along the nearby Combs Lane. To one side of the lane were a number of views across flat fields with trees that were either freestanding or part of the hedgerows. I thought some of the compositions worked well enough to add a new photographic venue to my doorstep photography project, which includes only photographs that are taken within walking distance of home:
As I have said in previous posts, the doorstep photography project is about gaining a greater appreciation of my local environment, staying healthy by walking, and showing that landscape photograph is not necessarily an activity that requires car journeys to the more established photography locations. I also see doorstep photography as part of my contribution to supporting 'greener' photography by balancing the times that I drive to locations with at least an equal number of occasions I walk with the camera.
Overall, there is a welcome calmness to doorstep photography and it is particularly rewarding if there is some good light on the end of it. On the second outing of the day I caught the last sunlight on more familiar compositions at Blanchbeck Lane together with a couple of shots of the afterglow colour in the sky:

Three Locations in May
During May there were a number of occasions when I went out walking in different locations taking some photographs along the way. I was going to pass over the photos and not post them, and then decided I could group them together in one post.... with an unimaginative title!
Woodborough Park
The first location is Woodborough Park Farm where there is a pleasant walk from a car parking area towards Woodborough village. There is also a circular walk around the farm but I didn't have time to complete this. I have taken many photographs from this path over the years but this was the first visit in 2018:
Clumber Park
The lake walk at Clumber Park is wonderful and it is a location where I would like to do more photography. On this occasion it was very bright and sunny, which was great for the walk, but not too good for the photography. These were a few photographs I took as a record of the visit:
Farnsfield
Earlier in the month I covered this location in the post 'Spring in Farnsfield'. At the time most of the trees where still leafless but now they have filled out ready for summer. I did spot one tree still in the spring transitional phase and it became the focus for a couple of the shots:
