September on the Southwell Trail - Part 4

The final selection from September's photography on the Southwell Trail shows heavy rain clouds over the fields that run alongside the path. At the time I was unaware that rain would feature regularly into the new month restricting the daily photography habit. However, when the weather was clear I more than made up for this with autumn colour trips to the local woods and forests. In fact, the challenge for this next month will be processing and editing the volume if images.

In the meantime, I particularly enjoyed the sunlight under dark clouds in this small set, emphasizing the colours of the crops that have since been harvested:

September on the Southwell Trail - Part 3

Most of the month I have been on autumn watch and the first trees to show any colour change were the horse chestnuts. The leaves seem to dry very quickly displaying a wonderful auburn colour in the sunlight:













I have also been watching three large ash trees along the trail during the month. They are great to photograph and, in a similar manner to the horse chestnuts, the sunshine plays a big role in highlighting the changing colours:

Hexgreave Avenue (September 2019)

In late September I visited a lovely avenue of lime trees on the road from the south entrance of the Hexgreave Estate to Hexgreave Hall. There was still plenty of green leaves on the trees but also some signs of autumn approaching including an early fall lining the road. The morning sunlight aided the photography by casting appealing shadows across the road and warming the russet tones:
