There are a couple of fine mature ash trees near to the junction of Brickyard Lane and the Southwell Trail which caught my eye on a bright autumnal morning in early October. Both trees still had a good canopy of leaves although thinned from their summer condition. The slight yellowing worked nicely against the deep blue sky:
Since early September I have been following the Norway Maples on the trail as they progress through the season. The reds that I had seen last month had now faded to a pleasant orange colour in early October. Other maple leaves, particularly those of the Field Maple had turned to a vibrant yellow:
Also changing colour during October were a group of young hornbeam trees near to Broomfield Lane as this final sequence shows:
