October on the Southwell Trail - Part 3

As is customary now for this photoblog I give a monthly update on the scenes along the path of the Southwell Trail, capturing the progress of the season, and really just enjoying the opportunity to walk and take a few photographs. 

I start at the end of the month and an area that I don’t photograph often - the entrance to the trail at Farnsfield. On this occasion the autumn display was hard to resist: 





A little further along was another scene with great colours from a maple tree and a shrub which I think is a Staghorn Sumach/Rhus typhina (see the close up of the leaves below):



Going back to the beginning of the month for more subtle colours were these scenes near to the Edingley end of the trail:





Sunshine was generally in short supply during October, lots of grey days, although I did manage to capture odd moment of brightness. Most of these were taken in Mid October when there was still plenty of green on show, particularly from the oak trees:







Finally, a few images in overcast and rainy conditions using the natural light and shade of the trail to create contrast:
