Sherwood’s Autumn Oaks (November 2019)

I always feel the autumn is coming to an end when the oak trees change colour, yet it is one of my favourite times of the year. The rich colours are magnificent when set against the gnarly twisting branch patterns of the mature oak trees. 

One of the best place to view this autumn spectacle is Sherwood Forest particularly where the wood is managed. Areas within the Birklands preserve the oaks and birch trees by removing the none native tree species. These are some of the photographic results from the end of November 2019:
