Sherwood Forest (September 2019)

It might have been wishful thinking that took me to Sherwood Forest looking for the very early signs of autumn colour. I had seen some of the birch leaves yellowing near to home and thought there might be more to see in Sherwood.

As it turned out most of the colour came from a low end-of-day sunlight adding a golden glow to the high tree tops. There were some hints of leaf colour but I think there is a good month before the real display starts.

All-in-all it was a very pleasant hour or so of photography in the forest and these are some of the results, concentrating mainly on the birch trees in this post and then separately I will show a selection of beech tree photographs that were still displaying summer greens.
