September on the Southwell Trail - Part 1

The meteorological definition of the seasons divides the year into three month seasons with autumn commencing on the 1st September and finishing on 30th November, simple and easy to understand, same date every year. However, I never quite have that autumn feeling until we reach autumnal equinox, the start of the astronomical season which this year fell on the 23rd September.

In the early part of September I was still taking photographs that had many summer elements, crops in the fields, green leaves on the trees, and rampant wild flowers. These were some of the results:




















There was a small hint of autumn on the first day of September as the horse chestnut trees start to change colour:
