Combs Wood (September 2019)

I have been photographing the area around Combs Lane for most of the year as part of my doorstep photography project which includes only photographs taken within walking distance of home. The aim is to document the transition of the seasons in the local area whilst providing healthy exercise and an environmentally friendly approach to my photography.

On this occasion I ventured a bit further than usual climbing the hill to the edge of Combs Wood where there is an elevated view across the fields towards Blidworth and Rainworth. This view was enhanced by the colours of maturing maize/corn which I believe is grown for conversion into biogas (methane):







Combs Wood itself is a private woodland and the only access is via the designated footpaths which connects the village Farnsfield with Greaves Lane, Robin Hood Hill, and onwards to Oxton...and beyond for the very keen walker. Whilst on the path I picked out some early signs of autumn colour:




Back on Combs Lane there was more evidence of the new season approaching plus stacks of straw bales recently collected from the surrounding fields:
