Strawberry Hill Heath (December 2022)

The hoar frost conditions experienced on the Southwell Trail (see my previous post) persisted for a further day allowing a brief visit to Strawberry Hill Heath. Many of the young birch trees had a very frosted appearance, particularly those shaded by tall pines. Stallon Pond was also frozen over…all good for the photography…

November on the Southwell Trail - Part 1 (2022)

Having captured the scenes around Combs Lane in the morning - see my previous post, the fine weather demanded an extra outing along the Southwell Trail for the late afternoon light. November’s weather had been so poor and opportunities for photography so few, it seemed like a bit of a release, particularly when the effort was rewarded with these golden birch leaves at the entrance to the trail…an uplifting sight that made the rest of the photography all the more pleasurable.
