Upper Hexgreave (December 2020)

In contrast to the mainly wet weather conditions in the first half of December, the Christmas holiday period brought some fine, bright, and sunny days.

These were some of the scenes on a walk to Upper Hexgreave on Christmas Eve - very simple photography, picking out a few features of the landscape to anchor the compositions and capture the conditions.

On reflection, there was nothing particularly seasonal about small trees and pylons! Yet the results have an atmosphere, perhaps a hopeful one, elevated by the brightness and the time of year. Even when many people, including ourselves, chose to isolate from family due to Covid, we can take heart from the many small pleasures in life like a walk on a crisp sunny day and taking a few photographs.
