Combs Lane Snow (January 2021)

Snow in mid-January transformed a very familiar landscape and provided a photographic release from the lockdown restrictions that we are currently experiencing. 

Practiced compositions from previous months were very helpful in quickly recording the scenes and avoiding the driving snow falling on the front of the lens. Added protection was provided by an umbrella - the handle anchored awkwardly inside the camera bag with the shaft balanced over the shoulder to free up the both hands for the camera settings.

Despite the contortions I was really happy with the results, adding to an increasing collection of photographs from the Combs Lane area which has become a lockdown favourite for exercise. It is quiet, out of the way, with enough photographic interest to keep the activity turning over in difficult times:
