Trail Abstracts

Photographing dried grass is a little unconventional but I like the idea that anything can be a subject for abstract photography. The aim is to remove as much context as possible in order to disguise the identity of the subject and to concentrate compositional elements like lines, patterns and tonal contrast. This approach can be further enhanced in post processing e.g. a monochromatic conversion .

The hard part of abstract photography is overcoming the inner critic which continually doubts whether the images are any good or whether grass is a valid photographic subject! The only way to silence the critic is to continually push the personal boundaries of abstract photography and publish the results - so here goes:
