Southwell Trail - Frost and Ice (January 2019)

This year has been relatively mild compared to the winter of 2018. The snow experienced by other parts of the country missed our part of the East Midlands leaving us with only the occasional cold and frosty days.

From a photographic point of view the frost adds some additional interest to the details along the Southwell Trail, e.g. coated leaves and icy puddles, and these are a selection of the images taken on different days across January 2019.

The first set of images come from the end of the month as a widespread hoar frost settled for the day. In further posts I will show more of this weather event including images from Clipstone Forest but for now these are some of the more close up/detail photographs taken on the trail:








The patterns in ice covered puddles provided a number of opportunities for abstract style images across the month:
