The cold and icy conditions carried
on for a couple of days at the start of February 2019. This allowed a walk
across the frost hardened fields towards Kirklington and the pond on the
Hexgreave Estate. Last year, the pond had a covering of ice when it snowed and
I was pleased to see a thin coating this year, adding some interest to the
photography and making the walk more worthwhile.
The first photograph at the pond was a
repeat of a composition from the last summer providing a pleasing seasonal
comparison and some context for the later, and more abstract, shots:
Despite the low temperatures
the conditions where sunny and bright and I tried to make the most of this
capturing a number of trees along the path including a couple of the frost
lined Southwell Trail:
