Field Abstracts (February 2023)
The slow start to the photographic year extended into February. There were a few outings locally, taking advantage of the better weather conditions, but I start with a small set of abstract style images. This chance capture focuses on the textures and colours of stubble lines in a field…a simple subject but one that I found visually appealing…

Stubble Lines (August 2021)
The final series of photographs from August continues the harvest theme of recent posts and features stubble lines in a field near to the Southwell Trail. I was particularly attracted to the range of golden tones with each stripe having a slightly different hue. Consequently, I found myself coming back to this field on more than one occasion.
It is hard to put into words why I found the subject so captivating but suffice to say that it offered a distraction away from other events that have constrained my normal approach to photography over the summer. For a few minutes I was able to to engage with the simplicity of composition…a mindful release and an apsect of photography that I really value:

Summer Fields (June/July 2021)
The local fields in summer provide an number opportunities for photography in terms of lines, colours and textures. Many of these can be composed in an abstract style, removing much of the context. This tends to simplifies complex scenes and whilst the individual images can stand alone, they often present better as a set of images providing a visual description of the season and the local agriculture:
