Sea Defences…(January 2026)

The relentless bad weather has put a strain on the sea defences along the South West coastline.  The waves batter the seawall and rock armour on Holcombe Beach but for the most part it holds firm. Close up, these defences reveal interesting patterns and colours some of which I’ve captured below:

Claret & Blue (January 2026)

Claret and blue are the dominant colours in these abstract images taken on Teignmouth’s seafront.  The distinctive rusty red sand at Teignmouth is likely due to the red sandstone cliffs that define the South Devon coastline.  The sea wall has been battered by recent waves but on a calmer day it and the lapping sea reflect deep blues.
