Ice Abstracts

The early January clear skies saw overnight temperatures drop and frosty starts to the mornings. A film of ice covered the trail puddles trapping air bubbles and streams of water below the surface. Viewed close up these created a series of abstract compositions capturing the simple, but often elegant, lines and curves:

City (August 2021)

Visits to the city centre have been few and far between this year and even as we come out of the Covid restrictions and try to return to normal, the trips are mainly brief and functional. The chances for photography are also limited and with only a half hour to fill I was interested in capturing an aspect of the city that I miss - the hard lines, angles and shapes of city architecture. 

With very few people around I found a subject, the clad walls and striking cerise panels of a University building which combined to make the following set of images:

Summer Fields (June/July 2021)

The local fields in summer provide an number opportunities for photography in terms of lines, colours and textures. Many of these can be composed in an abstract style, removing much of the context. This tends to simplifies complex scenes and whilst the individual images can stand alone, they often present better as a set of images providing a visual description of the season and the local agriculture:
