I did think there would only be two parts to the Curbar Edge photography in January. However, I have few more photographs that are worth showing. I was particularly attracted to the striking colours of the moorland rushes/grasses in the sunshine, both close up and part of a wider view looking across Stoke Flat towards White Edge:
Later, as the sunset, there was a line of sunlight across White Edge...and these were the last photographs of this visit to Curbar Edge:

Curbar Edge (December 2017)
Bright conditions on Curbar Edge suddenly turned to snow. I watched as heavy clouds swallowed the last bit of sunlight and then headed back towards the car. I thought that would be the end of the photography but as quickly as the snow started it moved away leaving clear conditions for the rest of the afternoon. These were the last shots of the day looking across Stoke Flats towards White Edge and Higger Tor in the distance.
These are some of the shots I took of the incoming snow shower. There wasn't a great deal of time to set the exposure properly. I had to hold the camera downwards, raise and shoot quickly. Quite a few of the images were unusable due to snow being blown onto the front of the lens but I did manage one or two clear shots. The results were underexposed in places but I think the dark foreground and subdued highlights are more representative of the actual conditions than any of the versions I tried to correct in Lightroom:
Once the snow shower had passed I resumed my walk along Curbar Edge to Froggatt Edge and then back to the car park at Curbar Gap:

White Edge - Photography Week 10 (2017)
White Edge runs parallel with Curbar and Froggatt Edges in the Peak District before turning towards the White Edge Lodge on the Longshaw Estate. It is one of the lesser known edges and is characterised by small outcrops of gritstone and boulder strewn moorland slopes.
Walking along White Edge from Curbar Gap provides views across moorland towards Higger Tor:
In the other direction, there are views of Stoke Flats, Curbar and Forggatt Edges and the Derwent Valley:
At the start of the walk, I decided to alter the camera's picture style, and hence the camera's live view, to monochrome. This change provided an opportunity to compose and capture the scenes in black and white. Later, I added a creative tone to the produce the images shown above and also this composition of the trees below White Edge.
Switching back to colour I recorded these views looking towards Higger Tor, the Grouse Inn, and Hathersage.
Finally, two record shots of the terrain on White Edge. The first looks towards the Longshaw Estate and the second towards the highest point of the edge which also includes a trig point.
