A dusting of snow on Curbar and Froggatt Edges added some additional interest to a bright day in the Peak District. I particularly enjoyed the contrast between the cold harsh light looking towards Baslow and the softer, almost warming, sunlight in the opposite direction.

Curbar Fog
Interesting conditions for photography on Curbar Edge in January with a thick fog reducing the visibility to the immediate surroundings. As I walked along the edge different shapes emerged from the gloom, simplified by the lack of background details. Trees stood in isolation, some of their sharpness diffused by the conditions.
From a photographic point of view it was one of those days without a stand out image, the general dullness prevented this. Collectively though, the results do unify into a themed panel where the sum is perhaps greater than its parts. Either way, I enjoyed the walk, the conditions and a different photographic challenge.

Golden Hour on Curbar Edge
January saw two very different visits to Cubar Edge, one fine sunset and another in a thick mist. The misty shots will be posted shortly but these are a small selection of golden hour scenes including some intimate compositions which contrast the warm colours of the sunlight with the coldness of the gritstone in the shadows:

Curbar Edge (November 2021)
This is first of the more strictly edited posts I mentioned in my last update. My temporary PC is struggling with the memory demands of the photo software and the time taken to properly finish my images means that I have to be more selective with my processing.
Whilst this is somewhat frustrating is also has the benefit of really looking hard at each image and matching them to the theme of the photography session. For example, this trip to Curbar Edge last year could have produced three to four times the number of images than shown below but many would be variations on a theme; late seasonal colour on the trees below Curbar Edge combined with the light and shadow of the low afternoon sunshine.
I had several attempts at the final edit but, as I suggested in my last post, perhaps less is actually more…
