June on the Southwell Trail - Part 3 (2021)

Whilst sorting images for my last post and looking up information about the various types of umbellifers (or Apiaceae), I noticed another themed set in the photographs taken during June along the Southwell Trail. This theme was various members of the Rose family:

The first rose is the awfully named dog rose (Rosa canina):

Also a member of the rose family is the common bramble with its fine pink flowers:

In fact, the rose family is quite extensive with many common members including crab apple, wild pear, rowan or mountain ash, cherry trees, wild plum or damson, and hawthorn. All these are present along the trail and I particularly liked these clusters of white and pink hawthorn flowers captured at the beginning of June:

Finally, along the path were showers of fallen hawthorn petals, some settling on the undergrowth:

Spring on the Southwell Trail - Wildflowers (June 2018)

I continued photographing the wildflowers on the Southwell Trail during June and these were some of the results. As I have said previously, I try hard to ensure that I make an accurate identification of the flowers but as there are many types, and some are very similar, mistakes are possible.

Common Spotted Orchid

These, I believe are common spotted orchids which I found growing in one of the fields off the trail:

Hedge Woundwort

Ox-Eye Daisy

Bird's-Foot Trefoil

Cocksfoot Grass

Red clover

Bramble & Bee

False Acacia (?)

Hogweed

The first photo is a hogweed expanding from its bud, then a close-up of a bee on the flowers, and finally a couple of creative images:
