River Trent (February 2022)

The storms at the end of February caused the River Trent to rise to flood levels. At Fiskerton the river was close to the top of the protecting wall and had started to spread to the flood plain on the opposite side. The normal high grass banking on the path to Hazelford had been breached and was looking more like a causeway with water on both sides:

Having photographed this area fairly regularly over the last year or so it was interesting to see familiar scenes altered by the swollen river. This included the dramatic white topped waves at Hazelford Weir demonstrating the power of the River Trent in these conditions:
