There is one tree along the Southwell Trail that is the first to blossom every spring. I think it is a damson as it has no thorns but I can’t be certain because I have never seen any fruit.
It often gets caught out by the last throws of winter losing it flowers to gales, frost, or even a final snowfall...but it persists...and I like its hopeful and positive approach. May be 2021 will be its year!
