Autumn Colours in Clipstone Forest - Part 2 (November 2018)

In this second selection from Clipstone Forest I tried to pick out colours in the foliage, often choosing the young trees displaying some vibrant yellows. As the light was so poor on the day I needed the colours to do most of the work in the compositions as the following images demonstrate:















Flat lighting doesn't always provide the colour punch that direct sunlight brings to an image and the results tend to be more subtle in their impact. I often find this more interesting both at the capture stage and then in post processing. The temptation is push too hard in the software, with heavy increases in contrast and saturation, when the best results are achieved by doing the opposite and then condensing the tones with a tonal mask:
