Winter on the Southwell Trail - Part 12

More spring-like weather on the Southwell Trail in late February or more accurately, the lull before the beast from the east hit. In a few days' time snow would be driven in on cold east winds.

In the meantime this was the first opportunity of winter to walk across the fields towards Kirklington. The path had dried out just enough to walk without clods of mud sticking to the boots.

The main photographic target was a line of trees on the Hexgreave Estate which includes a nicely shaped oak tree and some drooping horse chestnut trees. It can be hard in this location to compose around the electrical power lines, the pylons, and the growing number of wind turbines in the background, so it is often best to zoom in and keep the compositions tight:
