Winter on the Southwell Trail - Part 11

A suggestion of spring in this set of photographs from the Southwell Trail taken in mid-February 2018 with some flowering crocus, snowdrops and some fine sunny weather. Little did I know at the time that east winds and snow where just around the corner!

Southwell Trail - Photography Week 9 (2017)

These are a selection of images taken on a section of the Southwell Trail between the old Farnsfield railway station (1) and the A614 where the path ends. When it was a working railway the line would have continued towards Mansfield supporting the mining industry in the area (2):

Today the Southwell Trail is a recreational path but remnants of the railways can still be seen, including the railways bridges. The first bridge in the photographs below is situated on junction between Station Lane and Cockett Lane in Farnsfield and the other provides farming access across the trail. In the evening light the brick work, which I assume is original and Victorian, glows with a bright red-orange colour:

Near to the station building (now residential), and hidden in the undergrowth, is the edge of the old platform:

Walking along the trail was particularly pleasant in the early spring conditions. These were some of the views across the farmland:

Finally some early spring blooms including snowdrops, gorse flowers, and damson blossom:
