I continued to document the passage of the season on Combs Lane as part of my daily walks. The oilseed crop bloomed and the trees filled out with leaves. By mid May Combs Lane looked ready for the summer months ahead.

May on the Southwell Trail - Part 4 (2023)
Threatening rain clouds were a feature of the early evening weather on several days in May adding drama for the photography. The aim was to contrast the blue/greys of the clouds with oilseed yellows on the White Post side of the Southwell Trail but this required a burst of sunlight and a little patience to get the right shots.

May on the Southwell Trail - Part 3 (2023)
By mid May the ground was rock hard on the path from the Southwell Trail to Kirklington, emphasising the lack of recent rain. Not far along that path was an avenue of flowering horse-chestnut trees and a row of verdant oaks.
