Falmouth - November 2016

These are a selection of images taken in Falmouth during late October and early November 2016:

Killigrew Monument, Falmouth

Despite its rather modern appearance the Killigrew monument has a long history dating to back to the founding family of Falmouth. The pyramid, made from granite, was erected on the instructions of Martin Lister Killigrew in 1737 and it has been in its current position since 1871. Killigrew insisted that it was built with no accompanying inscription creating an element of mystery about its true purpose (1):

Mosaic and Tiled Doorways

Whilst walking through the High Street in Falmouth, I was struck by the number of tiled or mosaic shop doorways. It reminded me of childhood when there were fewer high street chains and more family run shops. I guess this type of  entrance is a thing of the past but it is good that some are preserved.

The above set was taken on a quiet Sunday morning - no photographers were laughed at in the taking of these images!

Pendennis Point

A great place for weather watching:

Castle Sands

Rock studies at Castle Sands has been a recurring photographic theme in my review posts. This is the last set for a few months:
