Best of the Rest - Photography Week 33 (2016)

These are a selection of images taken during photography week 33:

Mineral Tramroad

The mineral tramroad in Scorrier dates from the early 19th century and was used to transport mined minerals to the coast at Portreath, Cornwall. The first trams were hauled by horses before this section, from Redruth to Chasewater, converted to steam powered engines. Today, the tramroad is part of a network of footpaths which runs from Portreath to Devoran (1):

Engine houses are common in this area and these are the remains of the Wheal Bush (2):

Falmouth

These are a selection of images taken on a sunny day in Falmouth around the Discovery Quay (Events Square) area including the wood cladding on the Maritime Museum, some reflections in the water, a ships mast, dock cranes, and a colourful café further into the town:

Misty Falmouth

In contrast to the blue skies earlier in the week, there was a day of mizzle and mist. On the sea front there are a number of shelters and seating areas. One of the windows framed the view along the promenade. Colour was maintained by the seasonal flowers including a blue agapanthus whilst black and white seemed the best finish for most of the dock and harbour shots:

High Key Reflections

These are a selection of mast reflections in the harbour. The coloured versions were a bit murky but a conversion to a high key black and white turned them into a more appealing abstract form:
